sea and sand beach club
On the original 90210 Brandon Walsh worked at the Beach Club one summer. When mommy moved to LA she started going to the “Beach Club”. Actually the Beach branch of the Jonathan Club. A membership social club (is that what you call it?). In any case her friends told her this was where Brandon brought out the towels and umbrellas. And she believed them because that is what they do at The Beach Club in real life. But upon perusing the internet for little tidbits of info, it seems they actually filmed at the then closed Sand & Sea Club, which was part of the Hearst’s estate and then turned into a beach club. We don’t get why it closed, only sort of kind of. And we know the original Hearst home was killed in the Northridge Quake in 94 via a chimney that took the structure down.
This is a lot of info for me to relay. So here is a photo of the original house (we think). It has since been reopened as the Annenburg Community Beach Club. That’s right the Heiress to the TV Guide Empire (or just TV Guide) put up the cashola to restore this club and turn it into a public spot for everyone to enjoy.
Hooray. I will be a The Beach Club, but only because they serve you drinks on the water’s edge (yes they do).
